The most important advantages at a glance:
- Setup time: maximum 1 minute, with practice 40 seconds (Skycamp Mini)
- Compatibility: all car models can carry a rooftop tent (with the appropriate crossbar system)
- Models: singles, two-person tents, four-person tents, XXL for four people plus sports equipment
- Payback: after about 15-20 nights vs. vacation apartment already paid off
- Campsite costs: 50-80 % cheaper than hotel rooms

- Electricity costs extra: 16-A connection costs an additional 4-6 euros per day at many locations.
- Kurtaxe: In Berlin no city tax on camping sites (unlike in hotels).
- Season: Krossinsee and Kladow open year-round, Gatow seasonal (April–October).
- No rush for New Year’s Eve: Berlin camping on New Year’s Eve is a hidden gem – with a free view of the fireworks over the Havel.
