Crime statistics: Location downgrade Germany +5.5% Crimes & burglaries
I have only just updated the Capital Investment Atlas Germany when I receive the news of the new crime statistics from the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA). When I talk to investor friends and entrepreneurs about Germany, 98% of them say “No”. Real estate unattractive, economy weak. On top of that, crime is at its highest level for 15 years. A look at the figures from the 2023 crime statistics, plus an infographic or map of Germany by crime and burglary.
41.3 percent of all suspects are foreigners
From the category “Problems must be addressed in a fact-based, solution-oriented way”, today on crime statistics 2023.
Berlin, Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg and large parts of North Rhine-Westphalia in particular are struggling with rising crime rates, with a full 41.3% of suspects being people without German citizenship (which is only 14.6% of the population). Criminal immigration is increasingly becoming an investment risk for Germany as a business location. In 4 years + 9.3% crimes, last year alone 5%.
The news on crime statistics
Let’s start with the facts:
“Overall, more than 41.3 percent of all suspects are foreigners.” – Tagesschau
The headlines do not stop, understandably. After all, as can be seen from the number of deportations, too little is being done to repatriate criminals or, even better, to prevent them from entering the country in the first place. More headlines from the last few days:
- “Violent crime in Germany at its highest for 15 years” – Zeit
- “More violence, more burglaries” – Tagesspiegel
- “Violent crime in Germany is rising massively” – Welt
What exactly does that mean in facts and figures?
Only 14.6% of people in Germany are without German citizenship – Statista
That means:
This means that 14.6% of people in Germany are responsible for 41.3% of crimes
With an additional 351,915 immigrants per year (2023), there are also some who have other goals here than to lead a good, quiet life. 31,770 deportations were planned, which corresponds to far less than 10% of immigration in Germany. Only 16,430 were carried out. Germany is becoming a hotspot for a weak economy and increasing violent crime.
