USA: Eastern & Pacific Standard Time

The USA has 3 (of a total of 6) relevant time zones. Central is the EST with the New York Stock Exchange:

EST (Eastern Standard Time)

EST (Eastern Standard Time) is 5 hours behind UTC (Coordinated Universal Time), or 6 hours behind CET.

PST (Pacific Standard Time)

Example:

Hong Kong (HKT)

Many stocks, particularly Asian and especially Chinese stocks, are traded on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

  • + 8 hours UTC (London)
  • + 7 hours CET (Berlin)

Example:

If it is 9 o’clock in Hong Kong (9:00 am), then it is 1 o’clock in London (1:00 am) or 2 o’clock in Berlin (2:00 am).

If it is 1pm in Berlin, then it is 8pm in Hong Kong.
