Is it currently worthwhile to invest in property in Mallorca? Antoni Gayá says that property prices in the Balearic Islands are excessive. One of the “big problems” in the property market of the islands is that the prices demanded “have little to do with the market price”.

Currently, according to Antoni Gayá, prices are around 20-30% above their real value. He emphasises that this problem is not limited to Palma but exists on all the islands and that excessive prices apply to both the sale and rental of properties.

According to Gayà, properties for sale often remain unsold for several months because the price is too high. The owners do not want to lower the price, but in some cases it will eventually go down. Official figures indicate that the subsequent sale price is often lower than the price originally advertised.
