They all wear their favourite brand on their wrists. The Rolex – a brand at least as iconic as its wearers themselves. It stands for European excellence, a colourful success story and distinctive design. We at FIV Magazine have compiled a list of 11 of the most expensive Rolex masterpieces.

Paul Newman’s Daytona – $17.8 million

Rolex, you know this brand from the big Hollywood movies, from the most expensive music videos and of course from many Russian oligarchs. This manufacture needs no introduction, everyone knows the name Rolex. Its name has made it far beyond the borders of the watch and jewelry industry.

Rolex – a dazzling success story:

The origin of the Rolex brand is actually in London, where in 1905 the brothers-in-law Alfred Davis and Hans Wilsdorf founded their own company. Their goal: to import Swiss movements to England, to install them in the watch cases of other manufacturers and thus sell them to jewellers. Three years later the brand Wilsdorf and Davis became “Rolex” with its headquarters in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. Due to the First World War, Hans Wilsdorf left the company in 1919. The company moved to Geneva, where later in 1926 Wilsdorf produced the world’s first waterproof and dustproof wristwatch.

Despite initial scepticism on the part of buyers, the so-called “Oyster” became a success a year later, which did not stop in the decades to come. In the following decades, the brand established itself as a synonym for luxury and elegance through a series of various model releases. The “Rolex” brand redefined the watch landscape with each new edition that became a classic. It is the leading manufacturer of luxury watches worldwide and produces over 2,000 watches per day.

15 facts about Rolex

15 more incredible facts that every Rolex fan should know are available here in the video:

Hollywood legend Paul Newman’s Rolex Daytona leads our list of the most expensive Rolex watches with a proud auction price of $17.8 million. More than 400 people traveled from all over the world to attend the New York auction at 57th and Park Avenue in October 2017. It took only 12 minutes to sell the watch to a bidder by phone. Paul Newman’s piece of jewellery thus set a new record: never before has a Rolex sold so highly at auction. By comparison, the Bao Dai Rolex, which sold for more than 5 million dollars in May, was previously considered the record holder. The record for the most expensive wristwatch in the world was held by a piece of jewellery by Patek Philippe Schiedsrichter from 1518, which was also auctioned by Phillips.

Rolex Daytona by Paul Newman

Known for his almost outrageously good looks and charisma, Paul Newman dominated cinema screens at the end of the 20th century. Our guide covers everything: property sale guide. He was born on 26 January 1925 in Ohio, USA, the son of a housewife and a business owner. After he was kicked off his college football team, he finally turned to his original love: acting. His Broadway debut in 1953 was followed by television and film recordings in which he represented mainly anti-heroes. Until his death from cancer in September 2008, he also participated in philanthropic projects through his food company Newman’s Own.

Daytona Reference 626 Unicorn – $5.9 million

The Rolex Daytona Reference 626 Unicorn was last sold in 2018 for $5.9 million – no wonder when you know that this masterpiece is a one-of-a-kind. The Unicorn is still the only classic Rolex Cosmograph Daytona in white gold. It was sold by the famous Italian watch collector John Goldberger. The Unicorn was estimated to be worth 3 million dollars, but was eventually sold for almost twice that amount. Goldberger wants to donate the proceeds to the charity Children Action. Not only the unknown buyer, but also Aurel Bacs of Bacs & Russo, who conducted the auction in Geneva together with Philips, is delighted with the auction: “We are delighted with this historic result and this philanthropic gesture and are delighted about the lasting benefit that the sale of this watch will bring to so many children”.

Bao Dai – $5.1 million

An unknown buyer bought the Bai Dai – a Rolex reference 6062 – at an auction in Geneva in May 2017. It is the most expensive and rarest watch model that Rolex made at that time. Compared to the other Rolex watches listed, it may have been auctioned for a low price, but the diamond markings on the even hours make it unique in the luxurious world of wristwatches. Their gold case and black dial also contribute to this. So currently only three models of this specification are known. Just as unique as the dial is their history: The Bao Dai changed hands only once in the past – in 2002 when it was sold by the Vietnamese family of the Nguyen dynasty for 235,ooo dollars.

Antimagnetique Reference 4113 – $2.5 million

Touted as the most important watch in the catalogue, the Antimagnetique Reference 4113 was auctioned for 2.5 million dollars on 14 May 2016. Unlike the usual Rolex watches, this one is not covered by a precious metal, but by stainless steel. This auction was also conducted by the then newcomer to the world of watch auctions, Phillips in Geneva. This was a start-stop-reset auction. The estimates for the watch originally ranged from CHF 800,000 to CHF 1,600,000.

The Rolex – an undisputed status symbol of the beautiful, the rich and those who want to become rich. Those who like to be on time and at the same time trump with their wrist can of course also fall back on somewhat cheaper alternatives such as Daniel Wellington or Swatch.

Auction & Auction

Where are the most expensive watches auctioned? Graff Jewerly – Tracking down the most valuable diamonds is part of their job. If you find a big diamond, you can get rich in one fell swoop. Isn’t there? Yes, there is! The L’Incomparable Diamond necklace contains one of the most valuable diamonds in the world. The necklace is worth $55 million with the L’Incomparable diamond, because it is the largest, inside flawless diamond in the world. Hard to believe, but it was. A little girl discovered the stone amidst the rubble of the mines. In 1980…

A fireplace provides relaxation, a sense of well-being and warmth. Therefore, it is not surprising that fireplaces and other stoves are at the top of the wish list of builders, because heating with wood is popular. Especially on cold days there is nothing better than to snuggle up in front of a crackling fireplace bursting with warmth and enjoy the time. There are many different types of fireplaces. From open and closed to tiled or pellet stoves that all have advantages and disadvantages.

The basics – fireplace as a feel-good zone and focal point of the living space

A fireplace requires a certain amount of expertise that should not be underestimated. Especially when deciding which fireplace is the right one for your home, you should inform yourself in detail about the different types of fireplaces and how they are used.

General knowledge of fireplaces – flue, emission values & the ecological balance sheet

First of all, you should know that every fireplace needs a flue. Without a flue, also a chimney, a fireplace is not a fireplace. The absolute exception are bioethanol fireplaces, but since these do not cause smoke and therefore do not require a flue, they are strictly speaking not considered a fireplace. The district chimney sweep clarifies what a flue has to look like. He is also responsible for the acceptance of the finished fireplace. If you want to install a chimney in the house you have bought, you must first find out exactly whether a flue was installed during construction. If this is not the case, the whole thing is more difficult than thought and they may have to resort to an outdoor vent.

Tip! Heating system in comparison

Save up to 55% costs (heat energy)? Tip! Not only already, but practically? Save energy with the heating system in your property. Use the next time for renovation or your upcoming new building. Here you will find our guide heating systems: solar, oil, gas, heat pump, pellets in comparison and as extra, state subsidies. Continue reading here:

The next question is whether to choose a fireplace with or without a door. This has not only optical differences but is crucial for the functionality of the fireplace. To use a fireplace without a door only for the purpose of the crackling effect is far from modern and should be avoided not only for the protection of the environment but also for your own health. These fireplaces have not only a shocking fine dust emission but also a very bad ecological balance. Because of this, it will no longer be permitted to own a fireplace without a door from 2024. By then, a fireplace must not only have a door and a filter against fine dust, but also proper emission values. This is prescribed by the regulation BImSchV (Federal Immission Control Ordinance). So if you are thinking about a fireplace now, you don’t need to consider a version without a door. Fortunately, there are still great alternatives to not lose the crackling effect.

Fireplace models – a question of taste & functionality

There are many different fireplace models, but when choosing a fireplace, you should not limit yourself to the visual aspect and also consider the different functions of a fireplace. Which fireplace model best suits your property therefore depends on many different factors and your requirements.

Glass fireplace – cosiness factor and campfire atmosphere

Of course, the rule with fireplaces is ‘the more you see of the fire, the higher the cosiness factor’. Therefore, a glass fireplace is a great alternative to a fireplace without a door, as it has almost the same effect. A glass fireplace looks most cosy with three open sides, as this way the fire can not only be seen from every side, but also the cosy light spreads everywhere. Such a glass fireplace is made of special glass in the form of glass ceramic. This gives the same effect as a campfire. There are such fireplaces even without a visible handle on the glass window, which makes the whole thing even cozier. For this, however, the fireplace must be installed in a recessed position.

Hanging fireplace – individual and danger reducing

A hanging fireplace is also an alternative that should not be underestimated. This model originally comes from Scandinavia and offers a great variety, as it is not bound to one corner in the room. The fireplace can be mounted anywhere in the room on a wall and thus also heat all around. In addition, the risk of burns to children and animals is greatly minimized as the fireplace is not hanging within their reach. Firing, stoking and cleaning is also easier with this model, as you don’t have to bend down to the floor, but can work at eye level – you’ll even be spared the backache.

The Danish fireplace – the classic with personalization

The Danish fireplace is the last model that has already established itself as a classic in just a few years. It is the continuation of the ordinary stove and is now available in many variants. It has been equipped with a larger viewing window, which creates more cosiness. It also has a new modern technology, a combustion chamber that increases the efficiency and self-closing doors. A big advantage of this stove is that it is not permanently installed, so it can even be moved. Danish fireplaces are now available for turning, with an additional heating plate, but also some that can be heated with pellets, gas, brown coal or hard coal. An all-rounder that is suitable for every house and can be individually adapted to the needs.

Fireplaces as heating systems – stoves, tiled stoves and gas fireplaces

Of course, you don’t just want to use your fireplace to warm your soul and your living room. A fireplace can be used in many other ways. This includes, among other things, heating the whole house and not just one room. Of course, this includes special pipes, pipes – and energy supply systems.

Pellet stove as a heating system – energy efficient and environmentally conscious

The first way to use your fireplace as a heating system is the pellet stove, in which you heat not with wood but with pellets. Such a fireplace is particularly suitable for energy-saving houses. It is heated with wood pellets which are made from wood waste such as sawdust. They have a much higher efficiency, because they burn longer than the same amount of wood. To heat the whole house with such a fireplace, it must be connected to the hot water supply. The advantage is quite clear that a fireplace with a heating function not only protects the environment, but also the household budget. Unfortunately, the installation of such a fireplace is very costly, which is why the appearance is often neglected and there is only a small window. The coziness falls by the wayside, but it is always nice and warm everywhere and without a guilty conscience. Complementary to such a heating system is a solar system on the roof, which can heat the water in the summer. For such a system, a hot water tank with a minimum capacity of 1000 liters is needed, but it fits well in the basement.

Gas fireplace as a heating system – modern and uncomplicated

But also with a gas fireplace it is possible to heat the whole house and this even offers some advantages. For one thing, the cozy factor is not lost, because the flame can flicker peacefully behind a glass door and delight her heart. Behind the façade, however, there is a sophisticated system of ventilation heating that can be used throughout the entire house. This fireplace is operated with natural gas as well as with propane gas, which may be installed in a liquid cartridge with up to 11 kilograms. According to the manufacturer, this lasts up to 25 hours and provides heat. Another advantage not to be sneezed at, however, is that the fireplace and the air remain clean. There is no soot, the fireplace rarely needs to be cleaned and there is virtually no fine dust. And despite all this, not even the efficiency suffers, because it is at a respectable 70 percent. An alternative that you should definitely think about.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bfyops-FvtU/?tagged=gasfireplace

The tiled stove as a heating system

Probably the oldest model among the stoves is the tiled stove. However, its history proves its effectiveness, because it can heat up for between 12 and 24 hours and thus provide cosy warmth. Wood, pellets or even coal are burned here. In the meantime, even windows can be found in the tiled stoves, as the feel-good feeling has simply become too important and consumers can no longer do without it. The efficiency can also be seen, because a tiled stove burns its fuel completely. In addition, tiled stoves have the reputation of being particularly comfortable, as the radiant heat is even and the air layers are not confused by it. So the tiled stove should also be considered if you are looking for a fireplace with heating function for the whole house.

Firewood: Do-it-yourself, chopping & stacking

Firewood & Fireplace Wood Storage – Larger quantities of firewood, are often stored on properties. The garden or a barn are often used for storage. Larger quantities of firewood, once stored on a property, must be stored in a fire protected location. This measure is regularly inspected by a chimney sweep. In this article you will find tips and videos on storing, DIY, stacking and chopping firewood for your fireplace:

Heating guide: types, prices & comparison

Heating & Types – The topic of heating is not only interesting for builders, but also for property owners. After all, heaters are not only necessary in a property, they are also required by law. Which types of heating are there, how do they have to be maintained and are there legal subsidies for the construction of certain types of heating or do the costs have to be paid completely by the owner? Especially when building a house or renovating and modernising, the heating system plays a decisive role, because a large part of the later running costs depend on it, for you or for your tenants.

When deciding on a heating system, a number of things need to be considered, as there are major differences. Depending on the property, it must be decided individually which system is best suited to efficiently heat the entire property. The systems differ not only in environmental friendliness, but also in efficiency and price. Solar, oil, gas, heat pump, pellets:

A specialist real estate lawyer is an expert in legal matters relating to house, flat, land and property. Such a lawyer can provide advice and assistance with any questions or legal disputes in the area of real estate. We have summarized what exactly real estate lawyers do and the best recommendations for you!

Specialist lawyer for real estate: house, condominium and land

In addition to the actual training as a lawyer, specialist lawyers have specialized in a particular subject and have a particularly extensive subject-related knowledge. This is particularly important for legal disputes that explicitly concern a certain specialist area.

Definition – What does real estate law mean?

Real estate law can be defined as follows: “Real estate law includes the legal aspects of real property and covers all related areas of law.” However, the law does not use the term because real estate law spans many different areas of law.

The legal field of real estate law, which is not officially delimited, is made up of three different areas. First of all, there is land law. This regulates the ownership claims to land and property. The purchase, sale and management of land and everything on or under it is clearly defined by land law. The next relevant area of law is the heritable building right. This defines the option to purchase a property without having to buy the associated land for the full price. The buyer does not have to pay for the land, but simply pays a previously agreed ground rent on a regular basis. In most cases, such a ground lease is concluded for 99 years and an extension is often offered. The agreed period can vary. The third relevant law is the residential property law, as the last sub-area of the real estate law. This law regulates the ownership of an apartment. Ownership of an apartment obliges one to become a member of the local condominium owners’ association. The community rules are the set of rules governing the conduct of all residents and any building projects, which must always be unanimously agreed. The declaration of division within the condominium association regulates the respective ownership rights. Before acquiring a condominium, it should be reviewed with a specialist lawyer for real estate law in order to know its claims.

How does a specialist lawyer for real estate law work?

If you want to hire a specialist lawyer as an expert for your own legal advice, you first need to know which areas of law are covered by the respective law firm. Therefore, the first big question is: What does a lawyer with a focus on land and real estate law do?

Review of experts for land and real estate contracts

Participation and representation in the conclusion of contracts (before, during and after)

In the case of project development, contract management can be taken over on request

The handling of purchase price and warranty claims

Extensive control of warranty and limitation periods in real estate transactions

Due Diligence Reviews

Authority Representation

Examination and clarification of neighbouring conditions

Conducting independent evidence proceedings and litigation

Book tips real estate law – from BGB to expert tip

Various books of law, such as the German Civil Code (BGB), the Residential Mediation Act (Wohnungsvermittlungsgesetz), the Land Register Regulations (Grundbuchordnung), the Heritable Building Rights Act (Erbbaurechtsgesetz) or the Real Estate Agents and Property Developers Ordinance (Makler- und Bauträgerverordnung) deal with real estate law. In this book, various aspects of real estate law are dealt with.

Real estate disputes: Rising legal cases

Based on the figures of the Federal Statistical Office, one can see very well that lawyers are currently booming. Especially since 2014, the number of cases has been increasing and thus, of course, the costs for legal advice.

Solar collectors are the most important element of a solar system. Solar energy is captured and provided in the collectors to heat and release water for household use. Solar collectors are divided into two different models, both of which have advantages and disadvantages. The collectors also have different efficiency ratings and price categories, which differentiates them.

Solar collectors – the heart of the solar system

Without the collector, a solar system could not convert the solar energy into usable heat. The collector is therefore the heart of the solar system, which makes it possible to use the renewable energy in the home. Want to learn more about solar systems and the cost? Calculate the cost of your individual solar system with our solar system calculator! But which different models are there among the collectors and which one is the right one for my solar system?

Flat plate collector – the proven model

Flat-plate collectors were the first collectors to be used to harness solar energy. They are therefore still the most widespread model today and form a market share of a proud 70%. Their reputation is probably not entirely unconnected to this, as flat-plate collectors are considered to be very inexpensive, reliable and, above all, they offer a technology that has certainly proven itself over the years.

Structure of a flat plate collector – absorber, housing and the heat transfer fluid

A flat plate collector has two simple components. A housing and a blackened metal sheet that is located inside the housing. This metal sheet is also called an absorber, because the dark coating ensures good absorption of the incident solar radiation. The absorber also efficiently converts the incident solar energy into heat. In order for the heat to be transported, pipes run along the back of the absorber in which heat transfer fluid flows. This flows cold into the collector and leaves it hot. To protect the collector from external conditions, such as the weather, it is covered by a safety glass. This glass is very stable and at the same time highly transparent, so that as little radiation as possible bounces off it. This ensures that as much solar energy as possible reaches the absorber to be converted into heat. To ensure that the housing also contributes effectively to heat generation, it is particularly well insulated and therefore hardly loses any heat energy. The efficiency of the solar system is thus increased.

Differences in flat plate collectors – structure, shape & piping

Even if the flat plate collectors are combined into one model, there are still differences. Different flat plate collectors differ in the housing material, the different connection of the tubes and other features. Depending on the application, the different designs have their advantages and disadvantages.

Shape of the absorber – The absorber can be made of different materials. There are absorbers made of steel, stainless steel or aluminium sheets. These can be connected in different ways, for example by spot welding or roll bonding. There are also differences in the copper pipes in which the liquid is conducted. They can be pressed in but also soldered.

Coating of the absorber – The absorber layer has developed further and further in recent years. After all, the layer should be able to absorb as much of the solar energy as possible. Today’s technology provides for highly selective layers that have a particularly high degree of absorption. It also has a low emissivity of the long-wave thermal radiation.

Laying the heat transfer tubes – The tubes can either be laid in a tube register, where they are parallel side by side and connected at the top and bottom, or they can be laid in a meandering pattern, which means snake-like in one piece.

Housing material – The material of the housing can also vary depending on the model. The most common are aluminum, stainless steel but also plastic. Even wood would be an option as a housing for a solar collector.

Tube collector – the better thermal insulation ensures higher efficiency

The tube collector came after the flat plate collector and is an alternative to it. Despite different technology and less market share, this model also has its advantages.

Structure of a tube collector – vacuum, heat pipe and the glass tubes

The tube collector model differs from the flat plate collector in one particular point, namely in the insulation. While with the flat plate collector only the housing is insulated, with the tube collector every single absorber is insulated and this in a special way. Here, the absorber is encased in an evacuated glass tube, as vacuum has particularly good thermal insulation properties and allows neither losses through convection nor through heat conduction. Several of the tubes together are connected to a collector and then form a tube collector. Since this way of insulating is much more effective than that of a flat plate collector, the efficiency is much higher here, since less energy is lost. Due to the technology, this model is also called a vacuum tube collector.

Different design of tube collectors – heat pipe, CPC & direct flow

The tube collector models are additionally differentiated into different designs. On the one hand, the direct and the non-direct flow tube collectors – they are also called heat pipes. Another form are the CPC – vacuum tube collectors.

Direct flow tube collectors – In this design, the heat transfer fluid flows directly through copper tubes into the glass tubes. Here it is heated and when it exits it is combined with the other tubes in the collector. It is then transported to the heat exchanger via the solar circuit. In the event of a defective vacuum, it is not difficult to replace one of the tubes independently of the others.

Heat-Pipe (non-direct flow) – The heat-pipe uses a thermodynamic process for heat transfer in which a heat pipe ( head-pipe ) passes through the glass tube containing a readily vaporizing liquid, such as water or alcohol. When heated, this liquid evaporates and rises to the head of the glass tube where heat is transferred by condensation of the vapor to the heat transfer fluid passing outside the head. The rest of the liquid flows back to the bottom of the tubes and repeats the process once room temperature is reached. This is sufficient to cause the liquid to condense, as there is a negative pressure in the tubes – the vacuum.

CPC vacuum tube collector – This design is a variation of the direct flow tube collectors. Here too, the copper tubes run through the glass tubes, but the special feature is that two glass tubes are arranged concentrically and lie in front of a parabolic mirror. The absorbent coating is applied to the inside of the glass tubes. The parabolic mirror helps to make the collector even more efficient, especially at low irradiation. The yields are therefore comparatively higher and the collector works more effectively.

The heat transfer fluid – what needs to be considered

The heat transfer fluid stores the heat and transports it through the solar circuit to the solar storage tank. The heat is then released from the fluid and used to heat tap or heating water. The cooled fluid then flows back and starts its journey all over again. The question that arises, however, is what is suitable as a heat transfer fluid. Here the answer is relatively simple, because normal water is already perfectly suitable for this task. However, as there is a risk of frost, especially in cold months, which could cause irreparable damage to the collector or absorber pipe, the water must be mixed with an antifreeze. But the heat transfer fluid must also be able to withstand high temperatures. Especially in CPC vacuum tube collectors, temperatures of up to 350 °C can occur. To ensure that the viscosity does not suffer due to the antifreeze and such high temperatures, thus reducing the heat capacity, a mixing ratio of 40% propylene glycol and 60% water is usually aimed for. This mixture not only withstands cold temperatures as low as -25°C, but is also suitable for high temperatures. When purchasing the heat transfer fluid, pay particular attention to high temperature stability, good corrosion protection, the lowest possible viscosity, high environmental compatibility and a high heat capacity.

Whether in life or simply in real estate. At some point, everyone really needs a change of scenery. And how does such a thing better than with the change of the walls. This goes of course best with new wallpapers. The selection is simply endless whether in hardware stores or the Internet. From colorful flowered to striped or simply in normal colors. For everyone there is something to influence a small change in life.

Wallpapering step by step – accessories, wallpaper rolls & instructions

If you decide to redecorate your four walls, you first have to ask yourself a few questions. Which wallpaper do you want? Which colors best suit your new room? And how exactly does wallpapering work? We get to the bottom of all these questions and explain everything about wallpaper. So that your new home will be just as beautiful as you dream. Tips on painting can be found here: ’11 tips for painting’.

Wallpaper rolls – How many do you need for your room?

First of all the question arises, how many wallpaper rolls do you need at all? The wallpapers usually have a standard size of 53cm width and 10.05cm length. So it is not yet necessary to know which wallpaper you want when calculating the amount of wallpaper. To calculate the amount now, there is a very simple formula that can be applied to any room.

[( room width x 2 ) + ( room length x 2 )] x room height = wall area

If you have calculated this formula, you know how large your wall surface is. A roll of wallpaper with the above standard dimensions, is enough for about five square meters of wall space. So now calculate the amount of rolls needed for their wall area with the formula:

wall surface/5 = number of wallpaper rolls required

So if you have a room that is 3m x 4m x 2.5m, you have a wall area of about 35 square meters and thus you need seven rolls of wallpaper. Generally, however, it is better to have one roll too much than too little, since you can badly include offcuts and other errors. With patterned wallpaper you should plan even more, because the pattern must fit together and they have thus possibly even more waste.

Checklist wallpaper accessories – what you need when wallpapering

In order to have all the necessary tools at hand when wallpapering, you should prepare well for your remodeling. When wallpapering, you should have the following things at hand:

Spray bottle – Here should be filled with water or wallpaper remover, with which you can moisten the wallpaper.

Nail roller – You can use this to cut into the old wallpaper so that it can soak in better.

Spatula – The spatula is the most effective tool to successfuly remove the old wallpaper.

Wallpaper table – On this the wallpaper strips are coated with paste. You should not do without it, because it facilitates a lot of work for you and you can work on it more cleanly

Painter brush – With this brush you distribute the paste later on the wallpaper strips

Carpet knife – a useful tool with which you can later cut around sockets, for example.

Bucket – In the bucket you can fill the wallpaper paste

Wallpaper brush – This will help them to fix the wallpaper to the wall eventually.

Wallpapering for beginners – how to successfuly put the wallpaper on the wall

How exactly does wallpapering actually work now and what should you absolutely pay attention to? Especially for beginners, wallpapering on your own is often more difficult than expected. So that nothing can go wrong with them and you are prepared for everything, we show you step by step how it works.

Measuring and cutting wallpaper

First of all, you should measure the height of the wall. Add 5-10 cm to this number to include the waste on the ceiling and floor. Mark the measured number with an adhesive strip on the wallpaper table to be able to cut the strips quickly and effectively. Bend the wallpaper on the marking edge to edge and then cut it with a wallpaper knife or scissors.

Paste wallpaper correctly

The paste for their wallpaper you should have set early enough. Now this is applied to the back of the wallpaper. Make sure to distribute it richly, evenly and from the middle to the outside. Especially important is the edge, which needs enough paste so that the joint sticks properly and is not visible. The processing instructions on the package insert will give you more information. The sheets are now folded together to form the soft joint. It is important that the edges lie exactly on top of each other and do not dry out. Please note that you should only soak as many sheets as you can actually process in the soaking time. This is usually 10-15 minutes, but can be found on the instruction leaflet.

Paste wallpaper on the wall

After the soaking time, take the wallpaper strip and apply it with approx. 3cm overhang to the ceiling on the application line or the wallpaper edge of the last wallpaper. If the wallpaper lies correctly, brush the wallpaper from top to bottom and from the middle to the sides until it is smooth. If bubbles appear or the wallpaper edge deviates from the plumb line, remove the wallpaper and realign it. Lastly, press the edges well again with the wallpaper brush and remove any paste that oozes out immediately! Wallpapers are simply glued over the corner and start again at the plumb line on the new wall.

Trim ceilings and floor

There are various ways to get a clean finish. The two most effective are to tear off the wallpaper overhang against a sharp edge, for example, a wallpaper ruler. Make sure to tear slowly, otherwise unsightly edges will appear. The other option is to attach a ruler to the edge and cut cleanly with a cutter knife along. This variant is more suitable for beginners, because it is easier to perform.

Wallpaper models – woodchip, silk or still fleece

You wouldn’t think it, but when it comes to wallpaper, there is a wide range of different models. The best known is probably the woodchip wallpaper, as it is the absolute classic. However, there are also other models, such as pattern wallpaper. They are printed with different patterns and very popular, because they give the room a special flair.

Another great model is the paper wallpaper. It is made of recycled paper and has a multi-printed surface. It is available in various colors and also in great patterns you can find. When attaching, one should absolutely pay attention to the correct soft time and not fall below the recommendation of the manufacturer. After attaching you should avoid drafts and dry heating air, as this can damage the freshly applied wallpaper. Very similar to the paper wallpaper, is the non-woven wallpaper. Visually, they are hardly distinguishable, but the material is very different. Non-woven wallpapers consist namely of textile and cellulose fibers and are often enriched with synthetic binding agents and polyester fibers. It is in the comparison to the paper wallpaper relatively hard-wearing, stable and hardly inflammable. They exist both as smooth but also as structured version. A further model are the structure wallpapers. Under this name all models are summarized which possess a surface structure. This also includes the paper and non-woven wallpaper.

The classic among the wallpapers is and remains the woodchip wallpaper. And this also has its reason. The woodchip wallpaper consists of waste paper, wood chips and pulp, as this mixture creates the classic woodchip look. It is so often found in homes because it is so easy to paint over. Its texture and material absorbs the paint well and makes it look dynamic.

The last wallpaper model is a very special one. The silk wallpaper is probably the noblest but also most sensitive wallpaper and definitely not suitable for beginners. It consists mainly of pulp, but is supplemented by silk fabric and silk threads on the surface. This combination makes the surface very sensitive and especially against paste. If only one drop falls on the sensitive surface, you will never get the stain away again. So if you are not a professional in the matter of wallpapering and do not want to get help in the form of a painter, you should rather keep your hands off this model.
