Model airfields

If you let your flying object fly exclusively on a model flying field, you can do so without any changes. The new rules only apply outside of model airfields. The only exception: You have to attach a sticker with the name and address of the owner.

Drones over 0.25 kilograms

Owners of drones or model aircraft weighing more than 0.25 kilograms must affix a sticker with the name and address of the owner.

Drones over 2 kilograms

For owners of drones or model airplanes with a weight of more than 2.0 kilograms applies:

• You must attach a sticker with the name and address of the owner.
• In addition, they must demonstrate special knowledge. This proof is either issued after examination by a body recognized by the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt (German Federal Aviation Authority) or, in the case of model aircraft, by an aviation sports association after a briefing.
